The purpose of this award is to recognize and honour a dedicated resident of Maple Ridge who is at least 20 years of age and not more than 40 years old, who has made outstanding volunteer contributions locally, nationally and/or internationally, which has enhanced the quality of life in Maple Ridge or enhanced the image of Maple Ridge in the larger community. Those contributions can be broad based and without limiting the generality of the foregoing, may be in the areas of art, culture, athletics, social service groups or service clubs.
To qualify for the 40 and Under Citizen of the Year Award the successful candidate must:
- Be a resident of Maple Ridge.
- Consent to the nomination and must have provided volunteer contributions as reflected in the preceding paragraph.
- Be at least 20 years of age and not more than 40 years of age.
