The Maple Ridge Community Foundation was proud to work with a local business to consult with the community and design 2 large murals to be installed on a new building in Hammond.

The murals have now been installed, and are located in the community of Hammond facing Maple Crescent. Each of the 2 mural are collage-style and include multiple designs from multiple artists based on chosen themes as determined by community input.  The murals are printed on vinyl for longevity for years to come! **PLEASE NOTE: The Maple Ridge Community Foundation has participating in the mural design process only, and did not have any involvement in the building design, size or other location.

WE ARE PROUD TO ANNOUCE THAT THE DESIGNS HAVE BEEN DETERMINED, AND ARTWORK FROM 9 FANTASTIC, TALENTED ARTISTS HAVE BEEN INCORPORATED INTO THE DESIGNS.

Diane Speirs started painting in 2005 and became an active member of the Garibaldi Art Club in 2009. She is currently the Club’s President. Diane is a member of the Federation of Canadian Artists and is also a Director on the Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows Arts Council. Diane paints with acrylics and draws inspiration from the natural beauty abundant in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows.

It was during a game of Pictionary, while studying art at University of Waterloo, that Tammy became interested in the use of symbols. She believes they communicate clear messages to our conscious minds, and subtle information to our subconscious. Art-making has been Tammy's friend and teacher for over 50 years. She creates at home in MapleRidge, where she has lived since 1996, as well as in her studio in Abbotsford, BC.

Trenton Pierre known as sɬə́məxʷ(meaning Rain), is from Katzie First Nation. He is the founder of RainAwakens and has been working on executing projects with his team all over the lower mainland. Collaborating with Dusty Yurkin, they have been working together to inspire others to follow their true passions in life and be proud of who they are. He uses art work as a driving force to inspire others to follow their dreams in life and create things from the heart. He is proud to be First Nations, two-spirited and also in recovery.
